Yorkville Real Estate

Yorkville has a small downtown area with older homes dating back to the turn-of-the-century. But the biggest feature of Yorkville real estate is all of the new construction going on. With several major builders currently in the process of developing several big subdivisions to the north and south of Yorkville, the United City of Yorkville might be your first choice for brand new real estate. Yorkville, Illinois

Settlers arrived at Yorkville, Illinois in 1833 and the first to make the new community home was Earl Adams who built a log cabin on Courthouse Hill. Like Aurora, Yorkville also was a story of two towns - a year later, Lyman and Burr Bristol founded the community of Bristol just to the north. Both villages were founded because of a close proximity to the Fox River - a common theme among many of the communities in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. However, unlike Aurora, both communities remained separate and independent and remain so to this day. Bristol has not seen the same pace of development as neighboring Yorkville and remains a small community.


The City of Yorkville remains a small community just starting to come to terms with the rapid expansion that has begun. The city has taken the initiative and started a period of economic development focusing on the downtown area along the river. Current plans are to build a river walk similar to what was done in Naperville in order to bring commerce and industry to the city center. Yorkville is also planning a large addition to the library and a new school is scheduled to be complete in 2008. Plans are also in progress to widen IL-47 from one to two lanes going into Yorkville. The widening of this major artery through the center should make this area even more popular for development.
